Educational 8Ch. Mic Pre Kit With "Ribbon Mode"

The “dbPre” is an eight-channel microphone preamplifier based on Graeme Cohen’s 1984 double-balanced design that many of today’s finest mic pres employ.  The dbPre holds true to the original Phillips design using Texas Instruments 5532 op amps. Features include a pad, phantom power, HPF, and “ribbon mode” for passive ribbon microphones. The rear panel provides XLR inputs with outputs over a DB25 connector and AC power via an external wall wort transformer.  The dbPre packs a huge amount of high quality microphone pre-amplification into a 1RU enclosure.  This is a more advanced project than the baby pre - not just an educational opportunity but also a world-class mic pre at a very reasonable price.
